How to decide if self employment is for you

This is a delightful book, and it's a great resource for those thinking about heading out on their own.
It's not so much a how-to guide (it's not about finding a tax guy, getting the word out, how you should invoice, etc.), but more about the *experience* of being self employed, at an emotional and almost psychological level.
Not everybody is cut out for self employment, and though the appealing parts are mostly obvious, the unappealing parts often don't reveal themselves until it's too late. The uncertainty of when you'll get paid, the terror of an empty pipeline, the unhealthy notion that every hour could be a *billable* hour: some of us are energized by these aspects, others are paralyzed. Many of these unpleasant aspects are NOT OBVIOUS at the outset.
By taking advantage of the experience of those who've already been down this road, it may give you a view into your own future, and either provide you the encouragement to take the leap, or wave you off from a potentially bad experience.
I've been self employed for nearly as long as Dr. Chan, and almost all of the experiences rang true with my own; it's very enjoyable to read a book where I find myself nodding my head in agreement as much as I have with this book.

Fantastic book

I first heard of James Chan in a YouTube video. I am in the process of starting a consulting business and I found his insight very helpful. I have been in sales 18 years, so I'm very familiar of living in the edge and not knowing where your next client will come from. this book gives me hope I can do this on my own.
